Outstep, the studio.

in

I recently renovated a shed at our summerhouse and claimed it as my studio. It feels like a new chapter, like I am stepping out of my comfort zone (as a work-for-hire-kid-lit-illustrator) and making a concerted effort to make up stories that deal with issues I think about all the time.

Maybe it’s a sense of powerlessness in the face of recent events — and a need to make sense of it. Maybe you dabble in conspiracy theories, searching for nuggets of truth. Maybe you just want to believe.

I want you to feel stuff and be entertained when you come along for this ride. There will be mystery, weirdness, silliness—and people like you. People who—when faced with struggle—freak out, take stock, try to figure out what is going on—and get down to the gritty work of making solutions.

Maybe you relate to one of those things? That’s enough!

Welcome.
